Winterfest - Fairlea Community Association
The Fairlea Community Association has been hosting Winterfest for many years now. 2007 was a very sunny and mild (for an Ottawa winter) day. MP David McGuinty and Mayor Larry O'Brien attended and both stayed for nearly an hour. Leslie McDiarmid from Better Beginnings Better Futures also visited.
Kids were thrilled to have a tour of a paramedic ambulance. The ice was resurfaced and the skates were sharpened. Haiyan, Georgette and Claudette served from the shack. There were sleigh rides for 2 hours, which is always a crowd pleaser. It is sponsered by the Bank of Nova Scotia.
We tried a later start time and set up a stage for a later event, which Maestro Tito Medina spent considerable effort in creating a musical and light spectacular.
We had dedicated volunteers from the community and surrounding communities, as well as from the City of Ottawa. The volunteers did a magnificent job and we would like to thank them all for their hard work, and smiling while doing it!
If you would like to volunteer for our next Winterfest or any of our other events, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 613-421-2252.
Some fun in the snow!
